CHARITABLE ORGANISATIONS

A new definition of a charitable organisation has been adopted by the Tax Office and along with a new government body called the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission (ACNC). A review of all charitable organisations will commence from 1 July 2012. The focus will be on commercial activities operated by charities and determining if they are consistent with the altruistic purpose of the charity.
