The recent budget announcements regarding changes to the capital gains tax have now passed both Houses of Parliament and are awaiting Royal Assent before becoming law.

The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) has held the official cash rate (OCR) at 4.35%. While acknowledging inflation remains elevated, the central bank said it needs more time to assess how recent changes are filtering through the economy before taking further action. 

The Fair Work Commission has today announced its increase to minimum wages which will become effective from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.
